Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time trailer shows us what sweet dreams are made of

If you were like me in the fourth grade, you read A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle and went on an adventure with Meg, Calvin, and Charles as they travel through another dimension to save Meg and Charles’ father, who is trapped by a mysterious dark being. You also know, as a fan of the book, this would be a very difficult task to transport the written print onto the big screen. It attempted to do so in 2003 and failed miserably. But, director Ava DuVernay gave me hope with her interpretation of the book.

The trailer, which premiered at this past weekend’s D23 Expo, was truly magical and left me shaking. The imagery and styling are exactly how I imagined through the tesseract. The scenes along with the ominous version of the Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams (are Made of This) just gave me chills. Everything just looked and felt like magic.

Newcomer Storm Reid takes on the role of Meg, who I’m excited for. I can’t wait to see her become the hero in saving her family, along with classmate Calvin (Levin Miller) and Meg’s genius brother Charles (Deric McGabe).

The most difficult part of adaptations of the book is finding the right Mrses – Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey). If you are able to get Oprah, you win in everything, really. It just looks fantastic. I’m beyond excited.

Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time Official Synopsis:

Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles Wallace, have been without their scientist father, Mr. Murry, for five years, ever since he discovered a new planet and used the concept known as a tesseract to travel there. Joined by Meg’s classmate Calvin O’Keefe and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all of the evil in the universe.
