The Thing art book
The Thing is a 1982 cult horror classic from director John Carpenter. Over the decades, it has spawned the creepy survival horror game of the same name and even a remake. Recent movies like It Follows have been inspired by it. And just in time for the 35th anniversary, fans have another item to look forward to. The Thing art book is coming, thanks to independent publisher Printed In Blood. And the officially licensed art book will feature never-before-seen illustrations from different creators.

What else can fans expect from the book? It will contain 400 pages with artists participating from over 40 countries in different backgrounds like comics, fine art, animation, and illustration. In the comic book realm, artists like David Mack are attached to the project. (Here’s his Jessica Jones cover below.)

Tim Bradstreet (The Punisher), Cat Staggs (Wonder Woman), Jim Calafiore (Secret Six), Dave Crosland (Invader Zim), and Frazer Irving (Batman & Robin) have also collaborated on The Thing art book.

The Thing 35th Anniversary Art Book will feature an introduction by Eli Roth, who’s known for directing the Hostel and Cabin Fever films. Not to mention, the afterword is written by John Carpenter as he shares his thoughts on his film.

The art book is currently available for pre-order at PrintedinBlood.com. If you can make it to San Diego Comic-Con 2017, you can buy the book at the Aspen Comics booth (#2320) for $39.99. The booth will also have an exclusive SDCC variant edition with matching slipcase and six limited edition prints for $79.99. Check out the exclusive edition below.

And here are some of the artwork from the standard edition below.

John Carpenter is still working in the horror genre with a new Syfy anthology series, “Tales for a Halloween Night.” It’s based on his graphic novel of the same name that features horror stories in settings like graveyards and sunken ships. In addition, he has teamed up with Universal Cable Productions to bring Simon R. Green’s “Nightside” books to life.
