Dragon Ball Super: Goku and Frieza team up?!

on

Last week, we reported on a leak that revealed Frieza’s betrayal in Dragon Ball Super. A plan was in place to lure Frieza to Universe 4, while a mysterious fighter would join last minute. Apparently, that turned out to be false, and that’s a good thing. The biggest twist in the Universe Survival Saga was Frieza’s return and actually helping Goku and Universe 7. Frieza, however demanded to be resurrected if their universe should win, meaning this probably won’t be the last we see of him. Having him jump ship and bringing in another fighter so close to the Tournament would just be bad story telling. And, as I mentioned before, Frieza would actually be a good fit for the team.

With the rumored leak swirling across the internet, Toei made quick work to dispel them by revealing the real episode titles.

95 – The Worst! The Most Evil! Frieza’s Rampage!
96 – The Time Has Come! To the World of Void, Where the Universes’ Fates Will Be Decided!!
97 – Survive! The Curtain Finally Opens on the Tournament of Power!!

Goku and Frieza team up!

Seeing as Frieza isn’t going anywhere, the rumored plot by Universe 4 and 9 turned out to be an assassination. Universe 4’s God of Destruction Quitela had convinced Universe 9’s God of Destruction Sidra to kill Frieza. Quitela’s plot to force the assassination was meant to eliminate Universe 7 before the Tournament of Power began. Without all 10 fighters, they would lose immediately. Another consequence would be Universe 9’s instant erasure should Zen-oh find out the attempt.

Just as Frieza was brought back, a large group of assassins arrived. Goku demanded to know who they were though Frieza was more upfront by killing one of the fighters. Seeing no time to waste, Goku was about to leave until Frieza suggested to fight them as a warm up. Transforming into his golden form in an angelic fashion, Goku and Frieza will finally fight side by side in their first test as teammates. This isn’t the same as Goku and Vegeta, this is beyond a rivalry. Two fighters who completely hated each other from their first fight, Goku has eventually come to terms with Frieza. We’ll see if Frieza can play nice with Team Universe 7.
